Match Report – Thurlow Nunn Premier Division
Stowmarket Town 1–0 Heacham
Saturday 25th October 2025 | Greens Meadow
Stowmarket Town continued their fine run of form with a gritty 1–0 home win over Heacham at Greens Meadow — a third successive victory in all competitions for the Old Gold and Black.
Coming into the game on the back of two impressive cup wins on the road, confidence was high in the Stowmarket camp. The first half, however, proved to be a tight affair with few clear-cut chances for either side. Igor Grabowski went close for the hosts, while at the other end, a fierce volley from a Heacham forward brought a superb flying save from Finn Shorten in the Stowmarket goal.
The second half followed a similar pattern — a hard-fought midfield battle with neither team giving much away. But with just 12 minutes remaining, Stowmarket found their breakthrough. Excellent play down the right saw Grabowski whip a dangerous low cross into the box, and under pressure, a Heacham defender could only turn the ball past his own goalkeeper to hand Stowmarket the lead.
Heacham pushed hard in the closing stages, sending men forward in search of an equaliser, but the Stowmarket defence stood firm. Shorten was once again in commanding form, claiming high balls and keeping his clean sheet intact.
At full time, the home fans celebrated another deserved victory, built on resilience, teamwork, and character. Man of the Match went to goalkeeper Finn Shorten, whose composure and crucial first-half save ensured Stowmarket secured all three points.
A hard-earned win and another step forward for David Lorimer’s side as they continue to build momentum in league and cup competition.
